The forms create private case records without publishing a personal name, direct email address or residential address.
1. Evidence and context
Prefer original records and direct evidence. Verify dates, numbers, units and context. Seek a relevant response before serious adverse allegations where practical and represent responses fairly.
Do not invent events, sources, identities or quotations. Images need an appropriate rights basis and accurate context. Protect confidential sources and weigh public interest against foreseeable harm.
2. Independence and labelling
Identify opinion, analysis, sponsorship and advertising. Disclose material conflicts. Payments and investigation votes do not buy editorial conclusions. Breaking, Developing and Watch labels describe current editorial assessments, not certainty about every detail.
External cards identify the original publisher. Material corrections and withdrawals must not be hidden to preserve engagement.
3. Corrections and complaints
Send the URL, disputed passage and supporting evidence through the complaints form or editorial contact. We assess concerns on their merits rather than their political convenience.
Correct established material errors promptly and make substantive changes visible, with an appropriate internal revision record. Sometimes withdrawal or privacy protection is necessary; explain where safe and lawful.
We aim to acknowledge substantive complaints within five business days and respond or explain progress within 30 days. Review requests and external legal/regulatory remedies remain available.
